CS-GY 9223 Cloud Security

3 Credits
The implications for security are clear: cloud computing presents a new set of risks and requires new models for thinking about security. This includes where to store our keys, how we protect data that we don’t have physical control over, and how we authenticate with remote data and machines. Furthermore, this creates a whole host of new legal issues, both in terms of transnational policies and privacy as well as how we apply existing technology laws to a cloud-centric model. We will then move on to explore the most common threats to a cloud computing environment and design patterns which can mitigate these threats.
